Julie R. Berrigan has been appointed as the new Executive Director of the ECMC Foundation after a national search. The foundation considered many qualified candidates, and Berrigan was selected unanimously for the role.

Berrigan previously served as Director of the NCCC Foundation and brings over 15 years of experience in healthcare, education, and nonprofit sectors in Western New York. Her achievements include directing a $3.7 million capital campaign for the Knopp-Hailpern Science Center at the Park School of Buffalo and increasing gala revenue at Mount St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation through strategic sponsorships. She also helped secure a $1 million gift for Lockport Memorial Hospital.

Her skills extend to planned giving, having completed advanced training at the Lilly School of Philanthropy and establishing legacy societies to promote estate planning contributions. Berrigan is known for her donor engagement abilities, using storytelling to build relationships with donors, corporate sponsors, and foundation boards.

She has managed multimillion-dollar foundations, led diverse teams, and fostered collaboration within advancement offices. Her strategic expertise includes implementing donor stewardship strategies, securing grant funding, and engaging boards to meet organizational goals.

The ECMC Corporation is a New York State Public Benefit Corporation established in 2004. It includes an academic medical center with 573 inpatient beds, health centers on- and off-campus, more than 30 outpatient specialty care services, and Terrace View—a long-term care facility with 390 beds. ECMC is Western New York’s only Level 1 Adult Trauma Center and serves as a regional center for various specialized medical services.
