Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R-C, Elma) announced the opening of the new Ransom Road bridge over the New York State Thruway (I-90) in the towns of Clarence and Lancaster. The $4 million bridge replacement project, which started in August 2023, included several upgrades to enhance safety for motorists such as an increased vertical clearance from 14’1” to 16’5” and reconstructed approaches on both sides of the bridge. Approximately 4,000 motorists use the bridge daily.

Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R-C, Elma) joined federal, state, and local officials Thursday in marking World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD). The event is part of a month-long effort to promote an understanding of elder abuse as a public health and human rights issue. The Western New York WEAAD campaign is a collaboration of New York State, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office, the City of Buffalo, the Erie County Council on Elder Abuse, Live Well Erie County, and Center for Elder Law & Justice.
Senator Patrick Gallivan toured the site in Orchard Park where a new stadium for the Buffalo Bills is being constructed and received an update on the project. The steel skeleton of the stadium continues to take shape as workers install precast walls and stairs. About 450 workers are employed at the site each day, with more expected as the project progresses. The stadium is scheduled to open in time for the 2026 NFL season.
In the final hours of the 2024 Legislative Session, Assembly bill #A.7956, sponsored by Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C-East Aurora), was passed. The bill designates a portion of State Route 19 from Eddy Road in the Town of Gainesville as the “T Sgt. Walter W. Shearing Memorial Highway.”
