Lancaster High School had the highest enrollment among Erie County schools, welcoming 1,653 students during the 2022-23 academic year, according to the New York State Education Department.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 89.8% of the Lancaster High School's total enrollment.

Among the 195 schools in Erie County, Orchard Park High School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 1,385 students, while Kenmore West Senior High School welcomed 1,358 students and came in third in the 2022-23 school year.

Lancaster High School is part of Lancaster Central School District, which roughly covers four schools within Erie County and has a main office in Alden.

In the previous school year, Lancaster High School also had the highest number of students among Erie County schools.

In 2022, New York had roughly one teacher for every 12 students, which is lower than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students. A lower student-to-teacher ratio has been found to improve students' school performance.
