Senator Patrick M. Gallivan has released a statement regarding the death of inmate Robert Brooks at Marcy Correctional Facility. The senator expressed his disapproval of the incident, describing it as "reprehensible" and stating that it "never should have happened."

Gallivan highlighted the disturbing nature of the video related to the incident and called for accountability. He stated, "The correctional officers involved should be prosecuted and held accountable for their actions."

While condemning the actions of those involved, Senator Gallivan emphasized that these individuals do not reflect the majority of correction officers. He noted that most officers perform their duties professionally under challenging conditions.
