Assemblyman Mike Norris (R,C-Lockport) and Santa Claus visited John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital to deliver toys donated by the community through the Christmas in July Toy Drive. The initiative saw contributions from residents of the 144th Assembly District, including books and activity sets, which were distributed directly to children at the hospital.
“The outpouring of support from our community has exceeded expectations again,” said Norris. “I am so grateful for the kindness and generosity of spirit demonstrated by our community in helping to bring joy to these children, reminding them of the simple pleasures of being a child at a time when they—and those who care for them—need it most. Thank you so much to everyone who donated and for our partners who made this drive possible.”
Jessica Mabie, Chief Operating Officer of OCH, expressed gratitude towards all contributors: “Thank you to everyone who played a part in brightening the lives of these remarkable children,” she said. “While we expect holiday donations in November and December, maintaining that effort during the summer helps countless families.”
Norris collaborated with local organizations such as Lockport Family YMCA and public libraries across Lockport, Clarence, Newfane, and Wilson to collect toys for the drive. The public is encouraged to continue supporting the children through an online registry. For more information, contact Norris’ district office at 716-839-4691.
