Senator Patrick Gallivan, a former New York State Trooper and Sheriff of Erie County, attended the annual Remembrance Ceremony at the New York State Police Officers Memorial in Albany this week. The memorial now includes the names of 68 law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in service to their fellow New Yorkers. These names have been added to the black granite walls, including dozens who succumbed to illnesses related to their work at Ground Zero.

"We thank these brave men & women who have made the ultimate sacrifice to keep New York safe," Senator Gallivan said.

The memorial now bears the names of 1,840 police officers from 152 agencies across the state, as well as six federal agencies.
