Patent office approves 3 patents for Buffalo innovators in week ending Aug. 15

There were three patents granted in Buffalo in the week ending Aug. 15, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

This is three more than the week before. Patents included an use of the fl118 core chemical structure platform to generate fl118 derivatives for treatment of human disease.

The earliest patent filed which was granted in the week ending Aug. 15 belonged to Health Research, Inc. who filed in Dec. 13, 2017.

The number of approved patents in the U.S. grew steadily from roughly 225,000 in 2009 to more than 285,000 in 2019. The number of patents approved suffered a slight downturn in 2020.

Gene Quinn with IPWatchdog said the system underneath patents have become unwieldy, specifically for medical innovations.
