Buffalo Bills former player Steve Tasker has advanced to the semifinalist stage for consideration in the Seniors category of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026.
Tasker, who played for the Bills from 1986 to 1997, was recognized for his significant contributions on special teams. His performance earned him five first-team All-Pro selections and seven Pro Bowl appearances, including six consecutive seasons. He is also honored on the Buffalo Bills Wall of Fame.
Known as a hard-hitting gunner, Tasker became well respected by teammates and posed a challenge to opponents. He remains the only special teamer named MVP of the Pro Bowl, which occurred in 1993. In addition to his special teams role, Tasker occasionally played as a wide receiver and participated in return duties but is primarily noted for his work covering kicks and punts.
Drafted in 1985 by the Houston Oilers before joining Buffalo, Tasker’s career included 204 special teams tackles and seven blocked punts. These efforts contributed to the Bills reaching four consecutive Super Bowls between 1991 and 1994.
Other semifinalists include Ken Anderson, Roger Craig, Henry Ellard, L.C. Greenwood, Joe Jacoby, Eddie Meador, Stanley Morgan and Otis Taylor.
The Seniors Blue-Ribbon Committee will meet on November 25 to select three finalists for this category. The finalists’ names are expected to be released in early December. The full list of inductees will be announced at “NFL Honors” in San Francisco next February with enshrinement scheduled for August in Canton.
