Senator Patrick M. Gallivan has announced a total of $350,000 in grants for four municipalities in the 60th New York State Senate District to aid clean water projects and infrastructure upgrades. The Wastewater Infrastructure Engineering Planning Grants are intended to help local governments modernize their water and sewer systems, with an emphasis on public health and preparing for extreme weather events.
“Ensuring access to clean water and maintaining safe and modern sewer infrastructure is critical,” Senator Gallivan said. “These grants will make it possible for communities to design and plan upgrades, making local wastewater systems more resilient and keeping communities safe.”
The Town of West Seneca, Village of Depew, and Village of Lancaster each received $100,000 grants to assess sanitary sewer infiltration and inflow issues. The Town of Collins was awarded $50,000 for an evaluation of its sewer district.
The funding is administered by the NYS Environmental Facilities Corporation. The announcement coincides with National Water Quality Month in August, which raises awareness about the significance of clean water for community health and economic growth.
