The Buffalo Sabres were defeated 3-0 by the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night at KeyBank Center. Despite allowing only 17 shots on goal, the Sabres could not score and saw their seven-game points streak come to an end.

The scoring began late in the first period when Mathieu Joseph scored a shorthanded breakaway goal for the Blues. Early in the second period, Nick Bjugstad extended St. Louis’ lead to 2-0 with help from Justin Faulk and Joseph. The final goal came late in the third period as Faulk scored with an assist from Joseph.

Sabres goaltender Joel Hofer stopped all 27 shots he faced, keeping Buffalo off the scoreboard despite the team generating 23 scoring chances according to Natural Stat Trick.

Tyson Kozak returned to the lineup after missing five games due to a lower-body injury, logging just over ten minutes of ice time. The Sabres played without Jason Zucker, Jiri Kulich, and Zach Benson.

Buffalo’s record now stands at 5-5-4 following this loss, which also marked the end of their longest points streak since 2023.

The Sabres will begin a four-game road trip on Saturday against Carolina. Coverage starts at 6:30 p.m. on MSG with puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m.
