The Buffalo Sabres lost to the Anaheim Ducks 6-5 in overtime at Honda Center on March 23, despite coming back from a two-goal deficit in the third period.

The result keeps the Sabres four points ahead of the Tampa Bay Lightning for first place in the Atlantic Division, as both teams lost in overtime Sunday. The Sabres also set a new franchise record by extending their road point streak to 14 games, becoming only the 16th team in National Hockey League history to achieve this milestone.

Buffalo trailed 4-2 entering the third period before scoring three goals within just under seven minutes. Jack Quinn, Owen Power, and Zach Benson each found the net during that stretch. The Ducks tied it late with a power-play goal by Mikael Granlund while skating six-on-four with their goaltender pulled. Troy Terry scored for Anaheim on a breakaway less than two minutes into overtime.

Alex Lyon’s personal run of ten consecutive road wins ended with this game, leaving him one win short of tying an NHL record shared by Devan Dubnyk and Evgeni Nabokov. Alex Tuch and Josh Doan also scored for Buffalo, while Rasmus Dahlin contributed two assists.

The Sabres finished their four-game Pacific Division road trip having earned seven out of eight possible points. They now return home for a four-game homestand beginning Wednesday against Boston at KeyBank Center. The upcoming game will be nationally televised.
