The Buffalo Sabres lost 5-4 in overtime to the Minnesota Wild at KeyBank Center on Saturday. The team managed to recover from a two-goal deficit during regulation, securing one point in the standings despite the defeat.

This game concluded a five-game homestand for the Sabres, during which they posted a record of 3-1-1 and collected seven out of a possible ten points. Over their last 18 games, the Sabres have gone 15-2-1.

Buffalo fell behind 3-1 midway through the second period but responded with goals from Peyton Krebs, Jack Quinn, and Alex Tuch to briefly take a 4-3 lead. The Wild tied the game less than a minute later with a goal from Quinn Hughes.

A hooking penalty against Krebs with 11.4 seconds left in regulation gave Minnesota a power play heading into overtime. Although Buffalo nearly killed off the penalty, Mats Zuccarello scored the game-winning goal for Minnesota following a pass from goaltender Filip Gustavsson.

Ryan McLeod and Jack Quinn each recorded a goal and an assist for Buffalo. Tage Thompson assisted on Tuch’s goal, extending both players’ point streaks to seven games.

Rasmus Dahlin notched his 305th career assist during the contest, moving past Jason Pominville for eighth place on Buffalo’s all-time assists list.

Goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 31 saves for Buffalo.

The Sabres will begin a five-game road trip on Monday afternoon against Carolina. The matchup will be nationally televised on TNT and HBO Max starting at 1:30 p.m.
