On Friday, April 18, former West Seneca East Senior High School standout Jenna Wojtkowiak’s current college team, the Mercyhurst Lakers, lost 15-4 in their NCAA Division II softball game against the Saint Francis Red Flash.
The game took place at Mercyhurst Softball Field. This was their third matchup against the Red Flash this season.
The Lakers’ next game is scheduled for Tuesday, April 22 at 3 p.m. at North Athletic Complex against Robert Morris Colonials.
The Buffalo Sabres lost to the Ottawa Senators and missed an immediate chance to clinch a playoff spot. Their next opportunity comes Saturday against Washington as they remain tied with Tampa Bay atop their division.
The Buffalo Sabres have signed defenseman Maxim Strbak to a three-year entry-level contract starting in the 2026-27 season. Strbak played college hockey at Michigan State University and has represented Slovakia internationally.
Kyle Buchanan led with six points as Buffalo defeated Rochester for its seventh straight win. The victory included milestone achievements for several players amid key lineup changes. Team awards were also announced before an enthusiastic home crowd.
