Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has been named a finalist for the Associated Press 2025 NFL Most Valuable Player (MVP) award. The announcement comes ahead of the 15th annual NFL Honors, scheduled for Thursday, February 5 at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, three days before Super Bowl LX.

Allen’s recognition as a finalist marks his fifth time being considered for the MVP honor, having previously been named a finalist for his performances during the 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024 seasons. At last year’s NFL Honors in January 2025, Allen won the MVP award. He finished second in voting in 2020 and third in 2022.

In the regular season of 2025, Allen completed 69.3 percent of his passes (319 completions on 460 attempts) and posted a passer rating of 102.2. He threw for a total of 3,668 yards and recorded 25 touchdowns through the air, averaging eight yards per attempt. On the ground, he rushed for 579 yards and scored 14 rushing touchdowns on 112 carries.

Allen achieved several milestones during the season:

– Led all players in career rushing touchdowns among quarterbacks—including postseason—after his performance in Week 9.
– Surpassed Cam Newton’s record for most rushing touchdowns by an NFL quarterback during Week 13.
– Became both the youngest and fastest player to reach more than 300 regular-season touchdowns after Week 17.
– Reached a career milestone with over 30,000 regular season passing yards following Week 17.
– Became the first player with at least 25 passing touchdowns and eight or more rushing scores in his playoff career after this year’s AFC Wild Card round.
– Surpassed Peyton Manning’s record for most total touchdowns by a player aged under thirty after Week 11.
– Became only the fourth starting quarterback to win 95 games (regular season and postseason combined) within their first eight seasons after Week 18.
– Joined an exclusive group as one of five starting quarterbacks to achieve ninety wins (regular season plus playoffs) after defeating Tampa Bay in Week 11.
– Set an NFL mark by surpassing Cam Newton for most games with both a rushing touchdown and passing touchdown in Week 8.
– Became first NFL player with multiple games featuring three passing touchdowns along with three rushing touchdowns during Week 11.
– Registered his tenth career game with multiple rushing scores plus one passing touchdown—a league-leading achievement—in Week 8.

The winner of this year’s AP NFL MVP award will be announced at NFL Honors on February 5.
