Jack Quinn scored his first career hat trick as the Buffalo Sabres defeated the San Jose Sharks 6-3 at KeyBank Center on March 11. The win extended the Sabres’ winning streak to eight games.
This victory marks the first time in franchise history that the Sabres have achieved multiple winning streaks of eight or more games in a single season. The team now leads the Atlantic Division by four points over the Tampa Bay Lightning, who lost to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday.
Quinn led Buffalo with three goals and an assist for a four-point night. Rasmus Dahlin and Ryan McLeod each contributed three assists, while Jason Zucker added a goal and an assist. Alex Tuch and Beck Malenstyn also scored for Buffalo. McLeod set a new single-season career high with his 36th assist.
Logan Stanley made his debut for the Sabres after being acquired from Winnipeg at the trade deadline, skating over fifteen minutes and engaging in a fight during the first period. Malenstyn fought for the second consecutive game. Goaltender Alex Lyon made 18 saves to secure the win.
The Sabres are now 14-2-1 in their last seventeen games, earning at least one point in fifteen of those contests. Their next game is scheduled for Thursday against Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals.
