Employers in Buffalo Ledger publication area filed 362 H-1B petitions throughout 2024

Employers based in the Buffalo Ledger publication area submitted 362 H-1B petitions during 2024, according to data provided by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services via the H-1B Employer Data Hub. Of these, 359 were approved (99.2%), while three were denied (0.8%).

Employers are classified under industries based on their reported operations and may be involved in multiple industries.

The H-1B visa program allows U.S. employers to temporarily hire foreign workers in specialty occupations requiring specialized knowledge and at least a bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Meanwhile, the Health Care and Social Assistance industry was the second largest contributor, filing 75 petitions (20.7% of the total), with an approval rate of 98.7%.

The Buffalo Ledger publication area employers with the most petitions during 2024 included State University of New York at Buffalo, which filed 84 petitions with an approval rate of 97.6%, M and T Bank with 57 petitions and an approval rate of 100%, and Research Foundation for the State University of New York, which filed 19 petitions with an approval rate of 100%.

Compared to 2023, the Buffalo Ledger publication area saw a 3.7% decrease in the number of H-1B petitions during 2024.
