DJ Moore has joined the Buffalo Bills as a wide receiver, according to a March 12 announcement. Moore, who previously played for the Chicago Bears, enters his ninth NFL season with four seasons of over 1,000 receiving yards in his first eight years.

The Bills acquired Moore and a 2026 fifth round draft pick from the Bears in exchange for a 2026 second round draft pick. Moore said he understood the business side of being traded but was excited to join a team that has made seven consecutive postseason appearances. “It’s hard to win in this league. You should appreciate it, celebrate it,” Moore said. “But the losses turn into lessons. You learn from your losses, get better as a player and you just go from there each and every time.”

Moore experienced only one winning season since entering the league in 2018, which came last year when Chicago finished with an 11-6 record before losing to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Divisional Round. Reflecting on that experience, Moore said, “Last year was my first winning season, so I got a taste of what everybody has been getting a taste of here in Buffalo… I look forward to getting back there with the Bills and going further.”

Moore is familiar with head coach Joe Brady from their time together in Carolina during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. Under Brady’s leadership as offensive coordinator, Moore surpassed 1,100 receiving yards each year and scored four touchdowns per season. He described Brady’s approach: “[Go] out there every day and just getting better [by] one percent… he always harped on them; and he never took his foot off the gas.” Moore also noted that teamwork is emphasized under Brady: “It was pretty cool to see how that worked out, and I see it still going on today.”

Looking ahead to his role with quarterback Josh Allen and the rest of the team, Moore said he is ready for whatever is needed to help win games. He described Allen as “a field general” and added: “You see him out there trying to conduct things and the way he does it, is successful, and I just want to be a part of that.” According to Moore, Allen has already reached out since the trade: “It’s a warm welcome, I’m just glad to be here… [Allen] is ready for me to get there and get going.”

Moore concluded by saying he prefers not setting personal goals but instead focusing on playing freely—a mindset that helped him last season in Chicago: “I never look at any season as they’re going to be the same… It just clears your mind of you not thinking about ‘Oh am I getting catches…’ It’s just letting you just play free.” He expressed excitement about joining Bills Mafia: “I’m excited for the new challenge and a new journey… Now it’s time to do that here.”
