Cornerback Davison Igbinosun arrived in Buffalo on April 26 for his first official day as a member of the Buffalo Bills, following his selection as the team’s second-round pick, number 62 overall, out of Ohio State.
Igbinosun described the experience as surreal and expressed gratitude for reaching this stage. “Right now, this moment, I feel like I’m living a dream,” Igbinosun said. “I’m sitting up here getting interviewed by a bunch of media personnel. I feel like I’m in a video game right now, seriously. I’m just blessed.”
Growing up in Union, New Jersey, Igbinosun said he often felt overlooked compared to players from other regions but believes that background helped prepare him for competition at the highest level. “A lot of kids are often just not seen. They have the talent, but are just not found,” he said.
He reflected on how playing at Ohio State contributed to his development and readiness for the National Football League (NFL). “It prepared me completely to be in an environment like the NFL. A place like Ohio State, you’re recruiting five star after five star every year, so your job is on the line every practice,” Igbinosun said.
Addressing past concerns about penalties during his college career—specifically totaling 16 penalties in 2024—Igbinosun explained how reviewing film helped him improve his technique and reduce infractions to four coverage penalties in 2025. “I had to watch what I was doing wrong,” he said.
Bills General Manager Brandon Beane commented positively on Igbinosun’s football intelligence and adaptability: “Very aware, football smart, young man, football savvy,” Beane said Saturday. “He passed all the tests for us.” Beane noted that he traveled to Ohio State’s pro day specifically to observe how Igbinosun performed outside of press-man coverage situations.
Looking ahead to competing with teammates Christian Benford and Maxwell Hairston for playing time at cornerback, Igbinosun made clear his ambitions: “Those are great players, but I would say my mindset is to be the best cornerback in the NFL, so I’m coming here to compete,” he shared.
As he prepares for his rookie season with jersey number 21 already assigned and an opportunity to play at Highmark Stadium ahead of him, Igbinosun summed up his excitement: “I am actually going to be one of the first guys, first people to play in that stadium,” he said. “It’s just a blessing.”
