The Buffalo Sabres announced on Mar. 17 that they have signed defenseman Gavin McCarthy to a three-year, entry-level contract.

McCarthy, who is 20 years old, recently completed his third season at Boston University. He served as the Terriers’ captain and recorded 21 points, including four goals and seventeen assists, with a plus-12 rating over 36 games.

The Sabres selected McCarthy in the third round of the 2023 National Hockey League Draft. Before his collegiate career, he played for the Junior Sabres.

This signing adds another young player to Buffalo’s roster as the team continues to develop its defensive prospects for future seasons.
