The Buffalo Sabres are launching their “Rink Takeover Series” as part of the team’s ongoing Youth Hockey initiative. The first event will take place at Northtown Center in Amherst on Sunday, October 12, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The series aims to strengthen ties with the local community, support young athletes, and promote hockey participation across Western New York. According to the team, attendees at Sunday’s event can expect a range of activities including appearances by Sabres alumni Grant Ledyard and Darryl Shannon between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., as well as an appearance by the team mascot Sabretooth during that same hour.

Other planned attractions include music, giveaways and prizes, an inflatable hockey shot activation, face painting, glitter tattoos, and complimentary Tim Hortons donuts and coffee while supplies last.

Organizers encourage those interested in having their rink participate in future events to reach out for more information.

The Rink Takeover Series is one component of the Sabres’ broader efforts to engage with youth hockey players and fans throughout the region.
