The Buffalo Sabres were defeated by the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-2 on Wednesday at PPG Paints Arena.

The scoring began late in the first period when Matt Dumba put Pittsburgh ahead. In the third period, Jason Zucker tied it for Buffalo with assists from Jack Quinn and Ryan McLeod. The Penguins responded quickly with goals from Bryan Rust and Kevin Hayes. Jack Quinn brought Buffalo within one with a goal assisted by Jason Zucker and Mattias Samuelsson, but Connor Dewar’s empty-netter sealed the victory for Pittsburgh.
