The Buffalo Sabres defeated the Vegas Golden Knights 2-0 at T-Mobile Arena on March 18, with goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen making 27 saves for his first shutout of the season.
The victory is significant as it extends the Sabres’ road point streak to a franchise record of 11 games (10-0-1), surpassing previous records set during the 1983-84 and 2006-07 seasons. The win also moves Buffalo into a tie with Carolina for first place in the Eastern Conference at 90 points and maintains their four-point lead over the Tampa Bay Lightning for first place in the Atlantic Division.
Luukkonen made several key saves throughout the game, including a glove save against Brayden McNabb in the first period and a stop on Jack Eichel’s one-timer late in the third period to preserve Buffalo’s lead. Josh Doan scored the opening goal after capitalizing on a misplay by Vegas goaltender Adin Hill, who finished with 23 saves. Josh Norris added an empty-net goal with less than a minute remaining.
The Sabres played without forward Alex Tuch due to illness, while Tyson Kozak returned to the lineup for his first appearance since March 3. The team encouraged fans to become season ticket members for guaranteed playoff seats.
Buffalo continues its road trip Thursday in San Jose, with coverage beginning at 9:30 p.m. and puck drop scheduled for 10.
