The Buffalo Sabres, in partnership with Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, will host Hockey Fights Cancer Night during their game against the Washington Capitals on Saturday, November 1. This event is part of a league-wide initiative by the NHL to raise funds and awareness for cancer research. It also gives fans, players, and others associated with the Sabres an opportunity to honor loved ones affected by cancer.

This year’s honoree is Megan Woodward, a resident of Western New York who was diagnosed in 2024 with a rare and aggressive form of thyroid cancer while pregnant with her second child. She attributes her recovery and that of her newborn daughter to the care she received at Roswell Park. Her story will be featured on the videoboard before the game, and she will participate in a ceremonial puck drop.

Each seat at KeyBank Center will have a commemorative Hockey Fights Cancer scarf displaying the Sabres logo in lavender. Fans will also find placards on their seats and throughout the concourse to write the names of those they are supporting. A designated moment during the game will allow attendees to raise these placards together. Placards can also be printed from Sabres.com/HFC.

Hockey Fights Cancer hats featuring the team’s “goathead” logo will be sold both online and at the arena, each including an autograph from a surprise player. Proceeds from hat sales will benefit Roswell Park. The hats are priced at $35 in-arena or $40 online during the game while supplies last.

A special 50/50 raffle for this event guarantees a minimum jackpot of $50,000, with all proceeds going to Roswell Park. Those not attending can purchase tickets online at Sabres.com/5050.

Additional activities planned for fans include photo backdrops themed around Hockey Fights Cancer, face painting on the 100-Level concourse, and music provided by a DJ before the game.
