The Buffalo Bills have signed punter Mitch Wishnowsky to a one-year contract as the team prepares for Week 5. The move comes after placing punter Cameron Johnston on injured reserve due to a foot and ankle injury, which will keep him out for at least four games.
Wishnowsky, who is 33 years old and from Perth, Australia, has played in the NFL for seven seasons. He spent six of those years with the San Francisco 49ers after being selected in the fourth round of the 2019 draft. During his career, he has averaged 45.6 yards per punt.
He missed the last eight games of the 2024 season because of a back injury and was released by the 49ers in May. In early September, Wishnowsky joined the Washington Commanders’ practice squad while their starting punter Tres Way was recovering from an injury but was released once Way returned.
Before his professional career, Wishnowsky played college football at Santa Barbara City College and then transferred to Utah, where he was named first team All-Pac-12 each season he played.
Wishnowsky will wear jersey number 19 with the Bills.
