The Buffalo Bills enter their bye week in Week 7 with a 4-2 record, aiming to regroup after back-to-back losses. Since 2017, the team has demonstrated strong performance following a bye, remaining undefeated with an 8-0 record. This is the second-best mark in the NFL during that period, trailing only the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 9-0 post-bye record.

Quarterback Josh Allen has played a significant role in this success. He leads all starting quarterbacks in wins after a bye since 2017 with a perfect 7-0 record. Allen is also tied for third in total offensive touchdowns (16) after a bye alongside Russell Wilson and ranks fourth in rushing touchdowns (5) after a bye, sharing that spot with running back Dalvin Cook.

Running back James Cook has contributed notably as well, posting an average of 6.9 yards per rush following a bye since 2017—the second-highest figure among NFL running backs over that span.

In the current season, the Bills have matched the Washington Commanders for first place in total rushing yards through six games with 906 yards. Of those, James Cook accounts for 537 yards, ranking him second behind Indianapolis Colts’ Jonathan Taylor, who leads with 603 rushing yards. Taylor and Cook are also leading the league in rushing first downs, with Cook just one behind Taylor at 28.

Buffalo stands second behind Indianapolis in rushing touchdowns so far this year, tallying nine as a team. Cook owns five of those scores and is tied for third-most rushing touchdowns in the league alongside Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and Dallas Cowboys running back Javonte Williams.

Tight ends have also been productive for Buffalo this season. The team is tied for first place with San Francisco and Philadelphia for points scored by tight ends (30). In terms of offensive yardage from tight ends, Buffalo ranks third with 414 yards. Dalton Kincaid averages 14.3 yards per reception—second among tight ends despite missing time due to injury—and he ranks fifth at his position group with three receiving touchdowns.

Defensively, Buffalo’s performance remains strong. The defense has forced four fumbles and recovered two so far this season. Defensive end Joey Bosa shares the league lead in forced fumbles with Detroit’s Aidan Hutchinson, while linebacker Terrel Bernard is tied for first place in fumble recoveries early on.

Additional top-10 rankings for Buffalo through six games include: second in total offensive yardage (2,270), third in first downs per game (23.2), fourth both in points scored on offense (167) and opponent passing yards allowed per game (167.2), fifth-tied in passing touchdowns by Allen (11) and opponent passing yards allowed (1,003), sixth-tied for tackles for loss by Deone Walker (seven), seventh-tied for wide receiver Joshua Palmer’s average yards per reception (16.7), eighth for Khalil Shakir’s yards after catch (201), ninth both for Allen’s passing yardage (1,397) and opponent completion percentage allowed (64.2%), and tenth overall with fifteen sacks.

As they enter their bye week undefeated after byes since 2017, the Bills will look to maintain their momentum into the rest of the season.
