In Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins, the Buffalo Bills saw two players leave due to injuries. Tight end Dalton Kincaid suffered a hamstring injury and is expected to be out week-to-week. Head coach Sean McDermott confirmed this timeline, stating, “That is in fact true,” regarding Kincaid’s status.
Defensive end Landon Jackson also exited the game with a knee injury. McDermott provided an update on his condition: “Don’t know what the timetable is going to look like on that, still gathering information. He’ll be out this week. I can promise you that, at a minimum.”
There was positive news for defensive tackle T.J. Sanders, who has been on injured reserve since October 11 after missing four games. This week marks his eligibility to return to practice as his 21-day window opens. McDermott said, “He’s eligible to practice. He will practice this week. We’ll get that going.”
Bills defensive line coach Marcus West experienced a medical situation after Sunday’s game and was taken to a local hospital in Miami. The team reported he has been discharged and is expected back in Buffalo soon. McDermott commented, “Everything’s on the up and up. He’s in a good spot. Glad to hear that.” Defensive coordinator Bobby Babich added, “Talked to him. He’s in good spirits. Marcus is a tough guy.”
Rookie cornerback Maxwell Hairston made his first career start with key players Christian Benford and Taron Johnson unavailable due to injuries. Hairston played every defensive snap against Miami and faced challenges covering receiver Jaylen Waddle, including giving up a touchdown early in the game.
Babich addressed Hairston’s performance: “It’s not going to be the last catch he gives up. Playing corner in this league is a challenge. There’s really good receivers, but it was awesome to see him respond.” Hairston later intercepted quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in the fourth quarter—his second interception in as many games.
McDermott praised Hairston’s resilience: “What I love about Max is he had a tough play in the first half, and in the second half, he comes back and makes a big play at a big time moment,” he said. “It shows me something about the young man and his ability to reset and his mental toughness.”
The Bills have now recorded at least one interception for three consecutive games, marking their longest such streak of the season.
