Two defensive players for the Buffalo Bills, T.J. Sanders and Damar Hamlin, have been placed on Injured Reserve due to injuries, according to head coach Sean McDermott. Sanders, a rookie defensive tackle, is dealing with a knee injury, while safety Damar Hamlin suffered a pectoral injury during practice.
Hamlin has participated in five games this season and Sanders has played in four. Discussing Hamlin’s situation, McDermott said, “(Damar Hamlin) had a pec situation come up in practice.” Regarding Sanders’ knee issue, McDermott explained that the team had hoped his condition would improve over time but ultimately decided surgery was necessary.
“We were weighing the options and seeing what one day at a time would do in terms of improving his situation,” McDermott said. “It didn’t look like it was improving, so we decided to (have him) get surgery and put him on IR.”
There is currently no confirmed timetable for either player’s return. When asked about whether these injuries could end their seasons, McDermott responded: “Don’t know on either of them, really,” he said. “(I) feel a little bit better about T.J. (Sanders). Damar (Hamlin) is up in the air at this point.”
