The Buffalo Bills have concluded their search for a new head coach by agreeing to terms with Joe Brady. Brady, who has served as the team’s offensive coordinator since 2024, will take over as head coach following a series of interviews with several candidates.

Brady’s time as offensive coordinator saw notable achievements. In 2024, the Bills became the first NFL team to record at least 30 rushing and 30 receiving touchdowns in a season. The team led the AFC in scoring, averaging 30.9 points per game, and allowed only 14 sacks—an NFL best that year. Including playoffs, Buffalo scored an NFL-leading 612 points that season. In 2025, under Brady’s guidance, the offense ranked fourth in points per game (28.3), led the league in rushing yards per game (159.6), and had the most rushing touchdowns (30). Brady joined the Bills in 2022 as quarterbacks coach before moving up to offensive coordinator.

The coaching search included interviews with nine candidates:

– Nate Scheelhaase, Rams pass game coordinator, joined Los Angeles in 2024. During his tenure, the Rams ranked highly in passing metrics including third in pass yards per game and fifth in points per game.
– Davis Webb, Denver Broncos offensive pass game coordinator and quarterbacks coach since 2023, helped lead an offense that averaged 342.6 total yards per game in 2025.
– Grant Udinski, Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator, oversaw an offense that tied for sixth in points per game (27.7) and improved notably during the latter half of the season.
– Anthony Lynn of Washington Commanders brought previous head coaching experience from his time with the Los Angeles Chargers and had previously worked for Buffalo as assistant head coach and running backs coach.
– Anthony Weaver served as Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator starting in 2024 after stints with Baltimore Ravens and other teams; he also coached for Buffalo’s defensive line in 2013.
– Philip Rivers was interviewed after returning to play quarterback for Indianapolis Colts during part of the previous season; prior to that he coached high school football after retiring from playing professionally.
– Lou Anarumo completed his first season as Colts defensive coordinator after six years leading Cincinnati Bengals’ defense; his units were recognized for their performance against both run and pass.
– Brian Daboll previously served as New York Giants head coach from 2022–25 and was Buffalo’s offensive coordinator from 2018–21.

Brady was among those interviewed early on January 21. As offensive coordinator since January 28, 2024—and interim OC before then—he contributed to strong performances by quarterback Josh Allen who won the NFL MVP award for the 2024 season.

“Joe Brady has been the Bills offensive coordinator in 2024 and 2025. In his first full season overseeing the Buffalo offense in 2024, led the Bills to becoming the first team in NFL history to score 30+ rushing and 30+ receiving touchdowns. The Bills averaged an AFC-best 30.9 points per game and only allowed an NFL-best 14 sacks. Including playoffs, the Bills also led the NFL with 612 points scored.”

“In 2025, led a Bills offense that ranked fourth in the NFL in points per game (28.3) and led the NFL in rushing yards/game (159.6) and rushing TDs (30).”

“Brady has been with the Bills organization since 2022, rising from quarterbacks coach to now head coach.”

This marks a new chapter for Buffalo as they move forward under Brady’s leadership.
