The Buffalo Bills began their training camp at St. John Fisher University with several injury updates from head coach Sean McDermott. Four players will miss the first day of practice due to injuries. Tight end Dawson Knox is dealing with a hamstring issue, right tackle Spencer Brown has a back problem, center Sedrick Van Pran Granger is suffering from a calf injury, and wide receiver Laviska Shenault has a lower leg strain.
McDermott did not provide a timeline for their return but emphasized that the team is taking it “one day at a time.” Specifically addressing Brown’s situation, McDermott noted that the right tackle is experiencing a “flare-up” in his back and that caution is being exercised.
Running back James Cook reported to camp on Tuesday and will practice with the team. Although he missed voluntary workouts earlier this year, Cook attended mandatory minicamp in June. “Couldn’t be more pleased with James and him being here on time and ready to go,” McDermott said.
Defensive end Joey Bosa is also set to practice after recovering from a calf strain that kept him out of mandatory minicamp. McDermott commended Bosa for his dedication to rehabilitation. “Couldn’t be more happy with the work that he’s put in to come back healthy and ready to go,” he said.
