The Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres announced on Apr. 1 the return of Give 716 for its sixth year, an annual fundraising event supporting charities in Western New York.

The event is designed to unite fans and community members in a day of giving that benefits local nonprofits. Organizers say the initiative highlights the generosity found throughout the region and provides critical support to organizations serving Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Genesee, Wyoming, Allegany, Cattaraugus, and Chautauqua counties.

“We’re proud to bring Give 716 back for the sixth year,” said Michelle Roberts from the Buffalo Bills Foundation and Rich Jureller from the Buffalo Sabres Foundation. “Year after year, this initiative has celebrated the generosity and spirit of our community, and we’re excited to continue partnering with the many charities that help make Buffalo such a special place to live.”

Last year’s Give 716 raised over $1.4 million for area charities. Over five years, more than $5.8 million has been collected through this effort. The organizers credit both individual donors and participating organizations for these results.

This year’s event will begin at 7:16 p.m. on July 15 and run until just before midnight on July 16. Registration is now open at Give716.org for local charities interested in joining. The website has been redesigned with new features aimed at improving usability for both donors and nonprofit participants.

Give 716 encourages all eligible nonprofits headquartered or providing services within Western New York’s eight counties to participate in what organizers describe as a widespread day of giving.
