Outside linebacker Bradley Chubb signed a three-year contract with the Buffalo Bills on March 13. Chubb, entering his ninth season in the National Football League, said he chose Buffalo because of its reputation as a contender and his familiarity with the team’s winning culture from his years playing against them while with the Miami Dolphins.

Chubb said that being in the same division gave him insight into what makes the Bills successful. “Being in the division the past few years, you saw the dominance of the Bills and the culture of winning, all the things they pride themselves on,” Chubb said. “And I feel like it will be a great fit for myself with where I am in my career. (I’m) trying to win, trying to get to that next level and this team is trying to do the same thing as well.”

He explained that he considered several teams before deciding on Buffalo due to their ability to win close games and their proximity to reaching major goals. “Down in Florida, we would have some close games, but it’s about how close these guys are, how they just know how to win and pull out those close games,” Chubb shared. “And I feel like that’s what it takes to get to the big stage. And (add a) few pieces, and I feel like I’m one of those pieces to help us get over the hump.”

Chubb recorded 19.5 sacks over his last two healthy seasons and registered eight and a half sacks in 2025 after recovering from an ACL injury. He said he is motivated by both personal goals and team success: “I just have a lot to prove to myself and a lot of people,” Chubb said. “At the end of the day I feel like, it’s a lot of sacks (48 in his career) but I haven’t scratched the surface of what I can do… Trying to be the best version of myself with still a lot left in the tank.” He added that he wants to surpass his career high sack total this season: “I want to beat my career high right now, which is 12,” Chubb explained.

The linebacker also cited familiarity with defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard’s system as an advantage for his transition into Buffalo’s defense. He described working under similar schemes earlier in his career as beneficial: “It’s kind of a match made in heaven… So, I’m excited to get back into the system… getting after the quarterback, making sure we’re covered in the backend, making sure we’re upfront, wreaking havoc, and playing good team defense.”

Chubb emphasized leadership as part of what he brings: “I’m just trying to be the best me, and I feel like my leadership and the way I go about my business helps everybody around me,” he shared.

Looking ahead, Chubb expressed excitement about joining an established roster led by quarterback Josh Allen: “They know how to win, they believe in themselves to win. And when you got a guy like 17 running the show, it’s hard to feel like you’re not going to win,” Chubb said.
