The Buffalo Bills announced on Apr. 25 that they selected two defensive players, outside linebacker TJ Parker from Clemson and cornerback Davison Igbinosun from Ohio State, in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft after trading out of the first round.

The decision to trade back was based on the team’s draft board, which did not have a large number of first-round grades for this year’s prospects. General Manager Brandon Beane said, “It was just really following our board. We had enough guys with a similar value on the board that we felt confident going to [pick] 35.” By making trades with several teams, including the Texans, Patriots and Titans, Buffalo gained additional picks for Day 3.

Beane highlighted Parker’s versatility as a key factor in his selection. “We knew when we left here last night, looking at the board, that we’re going to be able to get a pass rusher,” Beane said. He described Parker as a “three down player” who can contribute against both run and pass plays. At Clemson, Parker recorded 21.5 sacks over three seasons and set a school record with six forced fumbles in 2024.

For their second pick of the night at No. 62 overall, Buffalo addressed depth at cornerback by drafting Igbinosun. The team has faced injuries in its secondary in recent seasons and sought to strengthen its roster beyond starters Christian Benford and Maxwell Hairston. Beane said about adding depth: “You want to make sure…if injury strikes, that you’ve got enough guys…even if they’re not starters.” He praised Igbinosun’s experience starting games at major college programs and noted his physical traits as valuable for press-man coverage schemes.

The Bills’ connection with Clemson through scout Keith Jennings provided additional insight into Parker’s background both on and off the field. Beane described Parker as mature for his age due to his family background—his father served eleven years in the U.S Army—and noted his strong production during Clemson’s recent season.

Looking ahead, Beane expressed confidence that both selections would fill important roles for Buffalo’s defense: “Very aware, football smart young man…He passed all the tests for us,” he said regarding Igbinosun.
