Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott announced on Friday that defensive tackle DaQuan Jones, wide receiver Joshua Palmer, and linebacker Shaq Thompson will not play in Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Jones is sidelined with a calf injury and has missed practice all week, marking his third consecutive absence.

Palmer, who is dealing with knee and ankle injuries, did not participate in Wednesday’s practice but was able to take part in a limited capacity on Thursday. Thompson was limited during Wednesday’s session but did not practice on Thursday due to a hamstring issue.

“I think it was lingering a little bit,” McDermott said of Thompson’s hamstring injury during an interview on WGR550. “Thought it had gone away and then it resurfaced a little bit at the start of practice there.”

Kicker Matt Prater has also been limited in practices this week because of a right calf concern. McDermott addressed Prater’s status by saying, “I think he’s going to be fine. Never want to say there’s a guarantee with that but think he’s heading in the right direction. We’ll just take it through the rest of the day today and see how he does.”

Wide receiver Gabe Davis returned from injured reserve to join the practice squad this week and participated in both Wednesday’s and Thursday’s practices. However, he is expected to sit out Friday due to inflammation following Thursday’s session.

“I thought he thought he looked good, did some good things,” McDermott said about Davis. “He won’t practice today, more than likely, a little bit of inflammation coming off yesterday’s practice. So, he’ll be out today, and we’ll see where he goes from there.”

McDermott also provided an update regarding safety Taylor Rapp following recent knee surgery: “He had surgery two days ago or a day ago,” McDermott said. “I’m not a doctor, but from what I’m hearing, it’s probably not till next year at this point.”

Additionally, defensive back Taron Johnson was limited after practice with a groin injury and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s matchup.
