The Buffalo Bills secured a 28-21 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs at Highmark Stadium on Sunday, extending their regular season win streak against Kansas City. The win improved the Bills’ record to 6-2, while the Chiefs dropped to 5-4.

Buffalo’s defense played a crucial role, stopping Kansas City’s offense at key moments. In the final seconds of regulation, safety Cole Bishop broke up a pass in the end zone on second down. On the last play, rookie cornerback Maxwell Hairston, appearing in only his second career game, deflected another pass to seal the win for Buffalo. Earlier in the fourth quarter, Hairston also intercepted Patrick Mahomes.

Defensive end Joey Bosa pressured Mahomes late in the game, resulting in an interception by Hairston with under five minutes left. This defensive effort helped prevent a late comeback attempt by Kansas City.

Before halftime, after Buffalo scored its third touchdown, Mahomes connected with Travis Kelce and Hollywood Brown to move into Bills territory. However, defensive end Greg Rousseau and linebacker Terrell Bernard helped stop Kansas City’s drive near the goal line, forcing them to settle for a field goal. This allowed Buffalo to take a 21-13 lead into halftime.

Kansas City initially responded to Buffalo’s early scores with a direct snap touchdown from Rashee Rice and a field goal from Harrison Butker. The Bills answered with another scoring drive capped by Ty Johnson’s three-yard rushing touchdown.

Buffalo extended its lead further when Josh Allen ran for his second one-yard touchdown of the night in the third quarter. Defensive end Michael Hoecht contributed by tipping and deflecting passes that disrupted Mahomes’ rhythm during this period.

Key statistics from Sunday’s game include:
– The Bills are now 5-0 this season when scoring first.
– They have forced Kansas City’s largest halftime deficit of the season.
– Buffalo has won five consecutive regular season games against Kansas City.
– Including playoffs, they have won 20 straight games when leading after the first quarter—the longest active streak in the NFL.
– Khalil Shakir surpassed 2,000 career scrimmage yards during this matchup.
– Tre’Davious White appeared in his 100th career game.

Milestones reached include tying a team record for most rushing touchdowns (16) through eight games—a mark last set in 1964—and quarterback Josh Allen becoming both the first player with at least six rushing touchdowns in each of his first eight seasons and surpassing Cam Newton for most rushing touchdowns by an NFL quarterback across regular season and playoffs.

Allen is also approaching additional milestones: he needs one more win to become just the fifth starting quarterback with 90 combined regular season and playoff wins within his first eight seasons; he is also closing in on reaching 300 total offensive touchdowns for his career.

The Bills will next face Miami Dolphins on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. EST.
