Several national sports outlets released their latest mock drafts on April 22, projecting the Buffalo Bills’ possible selections in the upcoming 2026 National Football League draft. The consensus among analysts is that the team may prioritize bolstering its defense, particularly along the defensive line and at edge rusher.

Many observers point to last season’s performance as a key reason for this focus. The Bills ranked near the bottom of the league against the run, allowing an average of 5.1 yards per carry and surrendering a league-high number of rushing touchdowns. Multiple analysts suggest that improving these statistics will be crucial for future success.

ESPN’s Peter Schrager predicts that Buffalo could select Clemson defensive tackle Peter Woods with their first pick, citing his potential despite a dip in production last year. Meanwhile, The Athletic proposes a trade scenario where Buffalo moves down to pick No. 34 to select another Clemson defender, edge rusher T.J. Parker, which would allow them to acquire additional picks and add depth at outside linebacker.

Other experts present alternative options: ESPN’s Matt Miller and Jeremy Fowler mention wide receiver KC Concepcion from Texas A&M as a possibility but acknowledge significant interest in defensive prospects as well. Fowler reports feedback from league sources indicating Concepcion is considered one of the top receivers available but also notes Buffalo has researched safeties extensively.

Edge rushers feature prominently in several predictions. Fox Sports’ Bucky Brooks and Sporting News’ Vinnie Iyer both link Texas A&M pass rusher Cashius Howell to Buffalo, highlighting his energy and fit within new coordinator Jim Leonhard’s system. NFL.com’s Brooks suggests Auburn’s Keldrick Faulk could help with both pass rushing and run defense during Buffalo’s transition to a new scheme.

As draft day approaches, speculation continues about whether the Bills will use their top pick on defense or pursue offensive reinforcements such as another wide receiver or an offensive lineman. Several analysts note that trading back could be an option due to the absence of a second-round selection following recent trades.
