Assemblyman Mike Norris (R,C-Lockport) has called for submissions for his Annual Memorial Day Poster Contest aimed at honoring the contribution of the nation's military and veterans. The theme of the contest, as highlighted by Norris, is "Freedom Isn't Free," allowing high school students to pay tribute to the service of military heroes and veterans through their creativity.

In a statement, Norris emphasized the significance of the contest, stating, "As high school students prepare for their future, this contest is a wonderful opportunity to take stock of the privileges we are afforded by our military and veterans." He continued by acknowledging the sacrifices made by the military, mentioning, "Because of the bravery of our military, we have these choices, but it is important to remember that our freedom is not free. It has come at a precious cost."

Students interested in participating in the contest are required to submit their entries to the assemblyman's office at 8180 Main Street in Clarence by close of business on Friday, May 17. The posters should be sized on 8X14 inch paper or 11X17 inch paper and can be created using any artistic medium, including digital, if printed before submission. The contest is open to students in grades nine through twelve, who can enter individually or through their class or school.

Winners of the contest will be announced around Memorial Day by Assemblyman Norris. For further inquiries, individuals are encouraged to reach out to Assemblyman Norris' office via email at norrism@nyassembly.gov or by calling 1-716-839-4691.
